So I had my very first weigh in on Monday and I’ve lost 4.5lbs.
I have to be totally honest and tell you that I was expecting more. The plan I’m on has a private Facebook group and I’ve seen people lose 8, 10, even 20 pounds in their first week. I’d have been completely happy with 7.
However, I have to be realistic and accept that I’ve been ill which probably slowed down my metabolism and because of that, I had not been moving around as much as I would normally. I wasn’t working (I make bath bombs now) as I’d decided to take the Easter weekend off and, apart from going for a 3 mile walk with my parents on Saturday, I was mainly sofa surfing with Netflix for company.
The more I’ve thought about it, the more I’m actually happy with that result. Also, I installed a weight loss app which has a graph that shows the trend of your weight loss and the graph shows that I should be at goal by the end of July.
Of course, I know that my weight loss will fluctuate and it might take me longer to get there but I’m happy with that. Just the idea that I might be a couple of stone lighter by the time I go on holiday in July is enough to keep me going.
I talked a little bit in my last post about why I’ve started this diet and how I’ve been feeling about myself. I want to talk a little bit now about how I’ve organised myself and got into the right headspace.
I haven’t been there (in the right headspace) for a very long time and I think it’s due to the actual plan that I found that has given me the hope that I can actually be that slim person again. But as soon as I realised that I could do this, I went about getting everything ready so that I was organised.
I think now is probably the right time to tell you what plan I’m doing – because you’re going to see it from the pictures anyway and it’s not a big secret. I just didn’t want to be all about trying to sell it. I will however share my referral code as if you are going to look it up and decide if it’s for you, I may as well get my £10 off. So, onto organising myself mentally. To start with I ordered a 2 week bundle which came with a selection of packs for me to try out. But then about 3-4 days in I decided to go the whole hog and order 12 week’s worth. It made more sense financially. I borrowed the money from a savings account and have set up a monthly payment to pay myself back. But I’m all in now. I’ve done it for a week and 4 days at the time of writing and I feel so much better in myself – now that I’m getting over this cold as well.
So the first thing I did when I got my packs was to dig out 7 boxes (luckily I had kept a lot of plastic boxes that my soap base comes in so I managed to find 7 of them and stuck a label on each of them with the day. Then I picked out 4 packs to have a day plus a snack. I also put in there a couple of drinks that they sell which I got free. One is a pineapple boost which gives you a caffeine/energy boost. I have one of these in the morning. And the other they call a Peach Drainer. Not quite sure what this does. Something to do with helping you detox I think. I have one of them as well. It helps to be drinking something other than water all the time as I have to get through 4 litres a day. Although as time has gone by I’m not finding it so hard to drink that much.

When my delivery arrived with my 12 week’s worth of stuff, I went out to buy some storage boxes and organised them into categories:
I started doing this on a week that I had the kids and, thinking about it, I probably would have been better off waiting until I didn’t have them so I could get to grips with it without the stress of having to cook for them or hand out snacks. But I did really well and managed not to “accidentally” drop bits of their food into my mouth!
What I did was planned out my packs in line with what was going on with them. So I’d have one after the school run (as I like to sit and enjoy it in peace and that’s sort of in line with what I would do anyway). Then I’d save my next pack for when they came home from school and, inevitably, start attacking the fridge and cupboards and demand food.
I’d have my 3rd one, usually a soup, about the time that I do them dinner – around 5 or 6pm. Then I’d save my last pack for evening once they’d been sent upstairs to bath or get ready for bed. I can also have a snack on top of the 4 packs and I’d just save that for whenever I was feeling peckish or felt like I needed to eat. Usually around 2pm.
I’m now on my 2nd week doing this and I can really see me carrying on until the finish line.
I’ve weighed myself the last couple of days (partly as I wanted to avoid disappointment like last week) and so far I’ve lost another 3.5lbs and 3 inches off my waist.
I think I’d better stop talking now as I’m tired and it’s about time for me to put my feet up.
