The idea was to write a book about this but if I’m honest when I’m done with this trip, amazing as it has been, I think I’ll want to move on (and out) with my life and not look back too much.
However, here are a few do’s and don’ts that I have learned along the way:
Do:
- Pack plenty of summer dresses/tops. I severely under packed and while it was freezing in Chicago and chilly in Springfield Illinois, by the time we got to Texas it was t-shirt/shorts weather.
- Pack a bikini/swimsuit!!
Don’t:
- Read messages from ex to new girlfriend as you won’t like what he says about you (ie that he thought you’d never leave).
- Be under the illusion that when on the road and not driving, you will have time to kill, reading, blogging, gazing out the window as you will be too busy map-reading and trying to stop the kids from arguing or laughing so loudly it is distracting.
- Assume that there will always be places where you can do your laundry (cheaply)
