So, I’ve been here since Wednesday night. This is my third night here and the kids are here for their first night.

I’m pretty pleased with how they reacted. They both seemed to really like it. It really helped that my dad had been round to the house during the day to take apart their beds and put them back up in their new room in my flat. The children were very excited. We didn’t get back here until gone 7 – Ben came round to help settle them in but left pretty quickly as they seemed fine so I got them changed and let them play for a bit then got them into bed but they were too excited to go to sleep straight away. They eventually fell asleep around 9.30pm. Or at least that’s when I noticed they’d gone quiet.

I have got quite a lot done tonight. Made a start on the boxes in the living room.

I put a few pictures and things up too.

I need to go through things when I have unpacked more and decide what I can get rid of and what needs to stay. As I don’t have much in the way of cupboard space I want to make everything look pretty. So any bits and pieces that I do need but don’t have anywhere to go exactly will go on the shelf in a nice looking box. That’s the plan anyway.

I went to Tesco after work and before picking the kids up from my parents. I got myself a load of kitchen stuff that I realised I needed when I started cooking for myself each evening. Including:

  • a “holy” spoon (big spoon with holes in it – no idea what it’s real name is)
  • A spatula
  • A colander
  • A set of kitchen tongs
  • A kitchen roll holder
  • A set of kitchen scissors
  • A small parring knife (that’s a small kitchen knife apparently)

And some herbs. Apparently you need those when you cook!

I have so much to learn. But I’m looking forward to it!

I’d better go to sleep as its gone 11!!

I have to take them both to swimming lessons tomorrow. Yikes!

  1. Glad to see that you’re settling in well and that the girls liked the first night there. xx

Please comment so I know I'm not alone out here!
