I don’t know if I will finish this post. I’ve already started 2 or 3 posts which I’ve never got around to finishing. So I will try to make this one a kind of summary.
Current situation – work-wise
I’m now into my 4th week at my new job. I love it. I had 2 weeks handover with a lovely lady whose job I will be covering while she is away on maternity leave. On Monday of last week she was in a car accident (she was ok but obviously shaken) and then a day or two later she had her baby – at which point I was thrust into the deep end work-wise. It has been totally manic – I’ve never been so busy in my life. I’ve never felt so much like I owned a job (ok I’m just keeping it warm for someone but I feel responsible for it). I’ve never done so much overtime or worked at weekends before – because I actually wanted to!!! All the people are really nice and the location is perfect. I even worked from home today because Lala is a bit poorly from a tummy bug and they were very accommodating about it – I don’t intend to make a habit out of it as I actually LIKE going in and find my two screens very useful and I really like the people. Plus being right in the centre of town is really handy.
The last week or so the kids have been poorly. In fact all of us have been poorly on and off. First it was Joshua vomitting, then it was Lala vomitting – after Joshua seemed better. Then Lala got the runs. Then Joshua got the runs. Then Ben got the runs and Bella (our fantastic au-pair) just generally felt rundown – possibly had a cold or mild stomach bug caught off the kids. Then on Saturday I was worse for wear. And Lala is still suffering from a runny bottom and both myself and Bella are feeling very tired and worn out.
Bella has now been with us for around 2 months and she is already part of the family. She is brilliant with the kids and they love her. And she’s also become a friend to myself and Ben. My childcare arrangements right now are better than I could ever have imagined and I hope she never leaves!!!
What we’ve been up to
Night out at pub next door to work
Cream tea at the Savoy in London followed by a 40th birthday party in the evening on a boat
Geocaching (more on this later)
Fireworks night followed by sleepover for kids and Joshua’s best friend Oscar
Halloween – Trick or Treating
Joshua’s 5th Birthday (I made Angry Birds cake)
Ok I’m going to post this now as if I don’t do it now I never will! Started this post on Sunday night and it’s Saturday already!!!!
