14th Wedding Anniversary

So, I wrote this post about my husband ages ago.

Today is our 14th Wedding anniversary and I’m writing this having had a bottle of bubbly and two  bottles of red wine – shared with our au pair I have to say – just so you know its not all be drunk between the two of us – and the 2nd bottle of red my hubby was mostly drinking on his own.

Anyway, married for 14 years. Quite an achievement I think. Its not all been plain sailing. But we’re pretty much there. we have two lovely (most of the time – ok, SOME of the time) kids. And we are pretty much there financially. We started early – bought house at 21, got married at 22. Sold first house for twice its value and bought bigger house then put extension on new house…. Had best friend living with us for about 8 months, during extension. We’ve been through stress, family disputes, redundancies, near marriage breakups (at around the 7 year mark – BC (before children) and generally had our fair share of worries and strife.

And I feel like we are here. OK, things aren’t perfect (are they ever?) but they are good.

What more could I ask?

  1. Happy anniversary to you both. You’re right when you say it’s not all plain sailing but if you are both committed then you can work through your issues. That unfortunately didn’t happen in my first marriage (lasted 17 years) but second time around it (fingers crossed!) is better. That’s not to say we haven’t had problems. 🙂

What you mean no perfect….. That’s I am on cooking strike.

    • Hmmmm not perfect…. let me think. Well, I could start with staying up until 4am drinking heavily and then losing your keys so Joshua is late for nursery. Just to start…. hehe
